“China Controls Minerals That Run the World—and It Just Fired a Warning Shot at U.S.”

“China’s decision this week to restrict the export of two minerals used in semiconductors, solar panels and missile systems was more than a trade salvo. It was a reminder of its dominant hold over the world’s mineral resources—and a warning of its willingness to use them in its escalating rivalry with the U.S…”

“How China came to dominate the supply chain of rare earths and critical minerals”

“According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), China is home to  about 35% of the World’s nickel, 58% of lithium, 65% of  cobalt, and 87% of rare earth elements (REE) i.e. cerium, lanthanum, praseodymium etc.   …it is estimated that China controls up to 90% of the refining and processing of critical minerals in the supply chain,[2] more than 55% of the world’s rare earth mining, and 85% of the refining process of rare earth elements.[3] (See Figure 1) To get a sense of the world’s dependence on China, critical figures show that the United States imported 98% of its processed REE from China in 2018…”

1. question. The US has mines. Why aren’t they using them? Listen closely, any large shareholders invested in computer chips or anything that requires rare earth minerals should sue the US government if their stock collapse. This is artificial scarcity & the U.S. could easily mine minerals on it’s own soil.

Long story show if anybody tells you there’s a computer chip shortage is lying by omission to you. It’s a shortage because the US wants there to be a shortage. It seems to me this government wants to destroy the supply chain of computer chips.
