Of course he’s getting blamed because the war is affecting the economy. All he has to do is follow the original plan and pull out. His goal was to hinder Iran’s nuclear capability not regime change. Their military forces are destroyed according to him so there’s no reason to be there. Nukes can’t be used with no delivery system.
The President needs to know regime change is not going to happen in a timely manner. This will be another 20 plus year war that never ends. Why? When invading a country you have to be willing to commit genocide if your opponent commits to fighing to the death. All Iran has to do is wait until the US leaves. It does not matter if they “win.” The U.S. on the other hand has other interest that take priority. The economy, domestic issues which drain resources, elections (the public will almost always vote anti-war policies) — All these things are of more importance to the US than a war of attrition with Iran.
The only thing that awaits Trump is a failed presidency if he continues on this path. Morality can not trump math and logic. (pun intended) It doesn’t matter how evil the Trump admin thinks Iran is. It doesn’t matter how much of a threat they think they are. The math does not work. My advice to the Trump admin is to stop trying to be the world police. The U.S. is not God. It can’t solve the worlds issues. It never has and never will. What the U.S. can do is protect it’s interest. Investing in infrastructure, removing internal corruption, and improving the economy is in the U.S. best interest. Offensive wars of attrition aren’t.
